shorebird help?

Recommended Posts

Lots of birds on the beach at mid tide today.  (Hunting Island SC)  The top 2 are too blurry to tell, but the one to the left is a piping plover I believe.  Any help on the 4 larger birds in the shot?

Help is much appreciated 😄

The right-most bird is a black-bellied plover, and there are three dunlin behind it.

So is the plover a juvenile black-bellied? Just seems really tan.

I'd call the left bird a Semipalmated Plover, Piping is more of a grey than brown, you can reference my profile picture :classic_biggrin:

The Black-bellied Plover is (an adult) in basic plumage, it will be molting soon!
