White-winged Scoter

Recommended Posts

In between Eagle Pass and La Pryor, TX on a 4 acre pond I've seen around 30 large dark ducks with white on the trailing edge of their wings. It looks to be a white-winged Scoter, but its location is slightly out of the normal range. Having no binoculars it's been hard to see anything other than the obvious wing markings when in flight.  Is there any other bird with similar markings that would be more commonly found in Maverick County?
