These were seen 2 days ago at Plum Island, MA

Thanks! I expected the duck to be a hard one because of the lack of color and the tucked head.

I think you are right. I thought they were bigger than Willets, but the marking is too distinctive to ignore.

Sorry about the misidentification and/or confusion on the 2nd and 3rd photo!! I merely glanced at the 2nd photo and mistook it for a male Northern Harrier. I still don't have a clue on the duck, though. Sorry! ☹️

Well, Plum Island, MA, is exactly where I saw a female Black Duck eight months ago!

I don't think we can nail this one down definitively.
