Is it my tern yet?

Recommended Posts

Lockwood Folly, between the NC/SC state line and Wilmington, NC.  April 26th.  I'm pretty sure all photos are the same bird.

eBird has Least, Caspian, Common, Forster's, and Royal as the orange-billed suspects.  Just based on range maps, Least and Royal are the least likely.  Caspian, Common, and Forster's could be expected to be migrating through at that time.  The tail doesn't look extended enough in #2 for Forster's or Common but that could be due to the resolution of the images.  If the photos are accurate, that would leave Caspian.

All other photos are significantly blurrier and / farther away.  Thanks for any suggestions, although it wouldn't be the first time I've entered 'tern sp.'

Why would I go off on you?  It's just a bird, regardless of what species it turns out to be (or not).  Lacking any feedback, I'd settled on Caspian as the default anyway.

I meant don't solely rely on my opinion. Lol.
