Charlie Spencer
I'll start a new discussion in the next couple of weeks to kick around the type of information we want to include. The NASCAR season ends in a couple of weeks, so I'll have more time once my fantasy league duties are done.
HamRHead
This is a great idea. One item for possible inclusion is this page from the ABA showing mailing lists you can sign up for: http://birding.aba.org/mailinglists.php I am signed up for Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia. It is a good way to learn about general birding news, as well as rarities that might be in your area.
Avery
Also, maybe list any listserve that a state has that deals with birds. Sometimes people who don't use eBird will post their rare sightings there. That's how I got my lifer Red-headed Woodpecker yesterday!

I'd be happy to help, especially with writing/editing, since I'm not that familiar with resources in the ABA area.

It was a first winter bird, so didn’t have the full red head yet, but still awesome nonetheless!

It's still been relatively warm, and birding is better than writing about birding! I'll get started Thanksgiving weekend.

Guest
Hello Community, I have an aviary of birds that contains love birds, cocktails and some other breeds. But nowadays I got allergies symptoms like sneezing, runny nose etc. My doctor says you have bird allergies. Also, he recommended me an air purifier to clean the air along with medication. he says that it is also a great device for Birds Health too. So, I want your opinion about device? Whatbird is a forum for discussing wild birds. We may have a few people who keep pet / captive birds, and we may even have a few medical professionals. Have you looked for a forum that discusses pets birds and / or allergies? 2

Black back, tail and head. Short legs. White face, neck, and undersides. The most striking thing was the bill which was too large for the head, quite thick and fairly long, color red or orange near the face and changing to black as it tapered. When open, the bill resembled a pair of pliers. They were quite loud and raucous Thanks for helping. I have a picture but not sure how to make a url. Poor @Shazam. 3.5 years to get 'American Oystercatcher'.
Charlie Spencer
@Kevin @Aveschapines, would you make the following change to the What did the bird look like? paragraph? Current text: "If you have photos (or audio files!), you can drag the files directly into your post. You can also link to most popular photo sharing sites If not, what colors were the head, body, wings, and tail?" Requested change: "If you have photos (or audio files!), you can drag the files directly into your post. You can also link to most popular photo sharing sites. (Please do not edit photos beyond cropping and lightening.) If not, what colors were the head, body, wings, and tail?" Thanks!
