1 could be a female blackbird.  3 is a Green Heron.  There aren't enough Wild Birds Unlimited gift certificates for me to touch 2.

1= Female 'Continental' Red-winged Blackbird. (as opposed to the east of the Sierra Nevada 'Bicolored race of Red-wing).

2= Abert's Towhee, (missing most of its head feathers).

3= Least Bittern, (Notice black flight feathers).

Yeah, the size relative to the coot should have clued me in too.
