Lincolns or possible Vesper Sparrow?

Recommended Posts

Hi all :)  Is this a Lincolns Sparrow or possibly a Vesper?  Both in the area.  Sudbury, Ontario.  Forest near waterline more suitable for Lincolns?  Vespers would be in more open areas and bigger white eye ring?  Thank you.

I would say Lincoln's. Lincoln's have finer streaks than Song, a buffy breast, and no distinctive central breast spot. Vesper Sparrows usually have a stronger eyering, no buffy breast, and white outer tail feathers.

To answer your question, Lincoln's are most common in wet meadows while Vespers are common in short grasslands.
