Adele 1 Posted July 19 Hello Whatbird Community. I am having difficulty identifying this bird. Sorry for the background noise. You will hear the song at the beginning and at the end of the recording. I am wondering if it is Bobolink which is uncommon for my area of Maryland. The habitat was woods but near a pond and a the Chesapeake Bay. I hear a Robin note in the song, but otherwise closer to the Bobolink. There are Red Winged Blackbirds singing after this bird. Thanks for your help. 20190630_083855.wav
Charlie Spencer 1,329 Posted July 24 Welcome! Sorry for the delay! For what it's worth, it sounds enough to me like this one: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Bobolink But let's definitely wait on someone who knows better. I've only seen and heard a Bobolink in the field once, this spring.
The Bird Nuts 1,816 Posted July 24 It's not a Bobolink. I'm thinking it's a House Finch, but something's bothering me about it.
Adele 1 Posted July 24 Thanks for trying to ID it for me. Someone has suggested it's an Orchard Oriole, that might be it.
