Have trouble telling them apart from Downy Woodpecker, but I am thinking the bill is the right size for a Hairy.  South Mississippi, 7/21/19

I'd call it a Downy (looks like a young one due to the faint spotting on the flanks and head).  It seems small and the bill is not terribly long.

I agree with Downy woodpecker due to the smaller bill, spotting on the outer tail feathers and lack of shoulder spur.
