Thats a pretty broad time frame, @Charlie Spencer. What's going to be the deciding factor on the actual date?

Finding a replacement.  If someone already on staff at another location wants to transfer here, it will be sooner.  If we have to find, hire, and train a completely new employee from scratch, then later.   My boss has known for a couple of years that I'd be leaving this year or next, so it wasn't a surprise.  We had an economic windfall that allowed me to pull the trigger.

Good for you. Here's to finding that replacement ASAP.  <clink>

I gave notice at work today.  No sooner than July 7th, no later than January 5th '24.

That is awesome Charlie.  Congratulations.  Professor couple here just retired prior to last year, and are much happier now, especially cially as it relates to birds and birding.

Retirement sounds nice and I don’t even have a job!

Can we all agree coffee should not be consumed by people under 16…

I don't drink coffee, nor do I ever plan to start.

Congrats!

@Charlie Spencer's new job description?  ... mediocre field trip leader - bring your thickest skin and your sense of humor, neighborhood squirrel patrol with his little mutt, annoy the wife until she says 'Leave the house and don't come back until you find an Ivory Billed!', ...  y'all can help me round out the list 😋

You’ll learn to live off it when you’re getting 3-4 hours a sleep a night for school.

Fair enough, but in other situations… no, just no.

Actually maybe 14 and up might be okay.

I think coffee is an acquired taste, one that seems more popular when you get into the workforce ages. I'd be more worried about all the soda pop kids drink at that age than the coffee most of them don't drink.

What most people don't realize is how caffeine IS in most soda drinks.

I would agree, the amount of sugar people are drinking in soft drinks can't be good for you. Although, the amount of sugar I see some folks put in their coffee is not either.

Mostly my reason for not wanting to start, has something to do with watching my dad and older brother have health problems, partly do to drinking so much of it.

I'm a network administrator at a plant that manufactures railroad safety equipment and control systems.  We make stuff as varied as those railroad crossing signals up through mass transit and rail yard management systems.    Our customers include the major US and Canadian railroads and many cities' mass transit and subway systems.

Does anyone here have experience with hearing aids that are not for volume, but tone loss(or in this case probability was never there)? Is it worth the expense and bother of them, versus having to ask someone to talk clearly from time to time or maybe needing subtitles on some movies? How well do they really work, etc.

If anyone knows and doesn't mind answering a few questions, from a non doctor-trying-to-sell-you-this-product opinion that would be nice! Feel free to use the PM.

But since they all used the PM option none of us get the benefit of learning how to tune out wife/mom
