Gull or Tern???

Recommended Posts

I agree with Franklin’s Gull (probably a first-winter bird) on migration. In nonbreeding adults, note the partial black hood, thick white eye-crescents, slender, red-tipped bill, black-tipped primaries, and clean white collar. In first winter birds, note full black bill, black primaries, brown upperwing, black-banded tail, and a smudgy gray hood.

Breeding adults have a full black hood, white eye-cresents, full red bill, and some pink on the belly.
