Group of tiny green birds in N. Carolina

Recommended Posts

A few years back I was outside in Greensboro, North Carolina and saw a group of 12 tiny green birds hoping under leaves on the ground then flying a few inches before going under leaves on the ground again looking for bugs. They did this as a group.  Each bird about the size of a inch and had iridescent green feathers.  I have looked for them since and have not seen them  again,  Any idea what these birds are called.  Thanks, Brad

That's an interesting description.  Are you sure they weren't some kind of insects?

The most common tiny birds in your area with iridescent green feathers are hummingbirds.  However, they're very territorial and never work together.  They also never hop or search through leaves.
