Is it really necessary to have two ID forums for North American birds?  Good chance of duplicate posts that way with neither one getting the attention they deserve. Just more stray thoughts. See the other thread for more stray thoughts.

Yes it is necessary. This forum is specifically for iBird Photo Sleuth. The forum is built into the app, but loosely right now. If the forum in the app ends up getting traction (more popular) we will more tightly integrate and automate it. The only reason there is a duplicate post is because I wasn't hearing from the main forum experts and wanted them to dive in. Now that thats accomplished I will delete the post in the BIRDING group, as its just a jump to get here.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I recently downloaded the Birds Around Me add on....nice!!

Hopsing: Thanks for buying Birds Around Me and letting me know. May I ask you what was the deciding factor in making the IAP purchase? Are you iOS or Android? Did the fact it had a 7 day trial lower any resistance you may have hard? I'm asking because we are able to add Photo Sleuth to iBird Pro as a IAP and some of my associates feel a trial for it would be a bad idea. They think once the allure of Sleuth wears out customers will decide NO to the buy to renew option. I kind of see that point as most customers test it initially with a ton of photos but after that they submit only a few a day.

For the BAM add-on the trial period didn't effect me because I use the iBird Pro all of the time (even in Europe until I just added the UK app to my phone).  As a cheap birder I could see people using the trial period of the bird sleuth and go through their pictures.  But if it works...serious birders are going to have pictures to review for a long time in the future and would pay to have that capability.

I'm a Droid guy and I've tried Merlin and am not overwhelmed by it's capability.  It does great on a couple of birds and then will give some wild answers for some obvious birds.

I'm not sure if this is the place, but one suggestion for Birds Around Me: I would like to be able to filter by month instead of season. Also for a while now birds around me doesn't work. When I click on it, it crashes iBird. I've sent feedback several times. Maybe it's just my phone. Any suggestions? Should I reinstall iBird?

Thanks for letting me know you bought BAM. It’s the second most accessed search attribute in iBird, Location is #1. I have an idea for a new iBird feature. And since I’m discovering these forums are fertile grounds for opinions; I’m going to share it with the group and see if I can get some good opinions.
