Bird in Saguaro National Park

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

These are actually juvenile Purple Martins. While adult males are iridescent purple with brown-black wings and tail, females, immatures, and juveniles have a gray front of head, nape, chest, and belly.

Tip: See the fleshy yellow gape? This should be a hint that the bird is a juvenile. 🙂
