Three birds of Turkey

Recommended Posts

Maybe I can help again :classic_biggrin:

  1. European Shag - note the rather large size, long, thin neck, dark overall, and thin bill.
  2. Yelkounan Shearwater - note the mall size, stiff-wings, and contrasty brown above and whitish below. Also, note how the feet extend past the tail tip.
  3. Either a Yellow-legged Gull juvenile or a Lesser Black-backed Gull juvenile. These two young gulls are very similar, and with my limited experience, I cannot differentiate them safely. Wait for other opinions.

I am actually doubting myself about number 1. I can't really rule out a Great Cormorant...

I agree with European Shag. Great Corm should be buklier.

The gull is tough. I'm leaning towards Yellow-legged as the pattern on the mantle looks atypical for LBBG. But second option agrees with probably YLGU but LBBG or even Caspian can't be ruled out without open wing shots.
