Juvenile Song or Lark Sparrow?

Recommended Posts

This is a Song Sparrow, either a molting adult, juvenile, or tailless from a recent miss of a predator. Note the coarse streaks, broad malar stripe, central breast spot, and rounded head ("normal" birds would also have a long, rounded tail).

Lark Sparrows would not have streaking on the underparts and have a much more distinct facial pattern (chestnut crown and cheek patch, a pale stripe over the eye, and a strong black malar).
