On second thought, Red-backed looks right---with that dark bill--and the range looks good. Wait for more input.

Gray-headed and Red-backed are very similar, and both are reported from the Grand Canyon on eBird in May. However, different subspecies -  by definition - do not breed in the same place, so I'm guessing that there's some confusion about which subspecies the Grand Canyon birds are. It could also be an intergrade between the two, since it's normal for two subspecies to breed freely with each other where their ranges meet.

Without info from a local expert or a publication specific to the region, I wouldn't call it either one. But it is definitely a Dark-eyed Junco.
