Evie12 44 Posted September 22 Hi, I saw this on Long Island, NY on May 16, 2019. Thank you!
akandula 669 Posted September 22 I’d feel pretty confident saying that this is a Coop, due to the capped (not hooded) appearance, clear white tip on a rounded tail, and large head with eyes close to the front.
akiley 972 Posted September 22 I agree with Coop.
Evie12 44 Posted September 22 Okay, great. Thank you again!
BarbetSmith 22 Posted September 23 Yeah, the way the head looks squared, with that corner on the back of it, plus the way the light gray wraps around almost to the back, are textbook Cooper's Hawk features. An Sharpie has a smaller, rounder head with more dark coloration on the back.
