Is this a Red eyed Vireo? All the others I've seen have been much paler. These pictures were taken today at Crystal Cresent Beach in Halifax Nova Scotia. Athough I am an experienced outdoor person, I'm new to the birding co mmunity and want to get off o n the right foot.

This is actually a nonbreeding adult/immature Palm Warbler. Even though the amount of yellow on the undersides is variable, note the yellow undertail coverts and prominent supercilium. Its distinctive behavior of tail-wagging can also confirm its ID.

All vireo species have much thicker, hooked bills and rarely are found on the ground.
