Identification please

First I want to say how much I appreciate your knowledge. Thank you. This pic was taken a couple days ago on a golf course in south west Arizona. I thought some kind of sparrow, but I have been through quite a few pictures and can't find a match.

I agree with female/immature Black-headed Grosbeak. Note the chunky look, very thick conical bill, and warm buff on the breast and belly which sometimes has streaks. Adult males are more contrasty with a darker black head and back.

You were close.  Grosbeaks are built much like sparrows, but larger and with proportionally larger bills.
