Brian’s Birds
Observed today at Westchester Lagoon in Anchorage AK, a location where both greater and lesser scaup have been observed in recent days. I want to be sure I’m distinguishing these females correctly. I’m calling the ducks in the shots with a single bird lesser scaups due to the blockier shape to the head with the flatter top and back of head. I think the three ducks in the shot together are greater scaups because of their more rounded heads. Does that sound correct? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
