They are hands down my favorite bird to watch. Near my great-aunt's house in Connecticut, there is a small pond where there are a few GRHE daily. I love watching them hunt. Aidan B
I always have enjoyed watching them. I don't see them to often as they are not very common at my patch, even though they are common in my area. I was pretty happy with that photo, maybe my best ever of a heron. The thing is, Green Herons always seem to try to avoid me, like it's a personal thing or something. Of course, I know that's silly, but sometimes I wonder... example: a deer exhibit at the zoo had kind of a swampy pond with turtles and fish and such. Anyway, a friend who I (accidentally) met at the zoo told me that there had been a Green Heron one there TEN MINUTES BEFORE I got to the exhibit. I must have tried 5 times for a Nelson’s sparrow at a park 45 minutes from my house. Several times I was with a group of birders, and I was the only one who didn’t see it ?. At least those nemesis birds keep us birding!

When I first saw your photos, I thought your Vulture was soaring over the water of the second photo until I scrolled far enough to see the Gull and realized they were two separate images. The blank line between images just makes it easier to see where one photo ends and the next one begins.
