Baja endemic, Xantus's Hummingbird

Cool! I remember when I was in Baja 5 years ago. I got a guide, and the day we were going out birding, I got food poisoning, and the trip had to end early. I did get the xantus and the Belding’s Yellowthroat, but I missed out on gray thrasher. Turned out almost everyone at the resort got norovirus. Luckily, it didn’t effect me to bad.

I live here in Baja ½ the year or so.  I have photographed all Baja endemics.  I published the book "Birds We See" in Baja California Sur, Mexico.  It's fun sharing photos on this site of which I joined somewhere around 2012 or maybe earlier.

I've used Carlos Urena for the last 6 or 8 years in CR.  He is the best!!!  Birds by sight and ear.  This is very important because in the deep forests one doesn't see many birds but to hear and then follow their calls your success is GREATLY improved.  506-835-43523....   curenach.cr@gmail.com.

Because of family things we won't make it to CR this year.  He is very kind, speaks good english and fun to be around.  Be sure to mention my name.  Chris Llewellyn, he makes all of the in CR arrangements. I promise you won't be disappointed with him.  One may spend a little more $ using guides but you will see so much more and be safe.

And Costa Rica is a very small country. One guide is all you will need.
