Black-chinned hummingbird?

Recommended Posts

Based on location (Houston, TX) and the grayer aspect of the crown and auricular i think this is a black-chinned. Agree or disagree?

Any comments will be appreciated.

Taken this morning.

Thanks in advance

This is a Black-chinned/Ruby-throated Hummingbird. Actually, in your range, Ruby-throated are more common. Without seeing the primaries/wing length and bill length, I don't think we can safely call which one it is. If you have any other pictures of it, they could help. In terms of behavior, if you saw the bird pump its tail while hovering, then it could point to Black-chinned.
