Hi all,

Not sure if I'm completely off track here, but I though I'd ask. Photographed today in Colorado. I noticed this bird was slightly smaller than the nearby Greater Scaup, had a dark brown back with paler sides, and a dark breast with a reddish hue. Also, the bill was very broad with a wide black tip and there was limited white in the face. I was considering the possibility of a Tufted Duck or hybrid due to the aforementioned characteristics. No crest was noticeable, but upon viewing photos on Macaulay Library, it seems that in some it is not visible. Or it could just be a scaup. Thoughts? Thanks!
