Black-and-white Warbler?

Recommended Posts

Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, Augusta GA.  Nov. 29th.

Phinizy is a mix of habitats.  This bird was in a mixed hardwood / pine forest near a large pond.  The bird was actively hopping through pines, about 10 to 15 feet up.

I'm not confident in this ID.  This bird doesn't seem to have enough black when compared to AAB, and the tail is awfully stubby.  And it's late in the season for one in the area.  I considered White-breasted Nuthatch but this bird is too streaky and the head shape doesn't look right for that.

On the other hand, I don't see any other colors, and those broken echelons on the undertail are pretty convincing.

Thanks.
