AggieBirder 2
Today (12/07/2019) in North Georgia backyard - good picture (I got lucky) of a hawk landing on my privacy fence in backyard. I think I see characteristics of both Cooper's and Sharp-shinned hawks. I've attached a pic
akandula 2,804
This is an adult Cooper's Hawk. Note the very bulky overall, relatively large, blocky head with a light nape creating a capped appearance (Sharp-shinned would have a dark nape on a rounded head creating a hooded appearance), eyes close to the front of the head, and thick legs.
TheBirdSpot 25
Agreed. Looks like a Cooper's to me!
Creeker 190
If you look closely you can see the shorter outer tail feathers. Plus that tube shaped body.
