Ruddy Duck perhaps, others?

Recommended Posts

Yep, all of those are Ruddy Ducks. Note the small, compact appearance and stout, scoop-shaped bill.

The nonbreeding males have fully white cheeks while the females have a dark line across the cheek.

There is one on the top right that looks slightly different? Has some red on the bill?

Ruddy Ducks normally have pale-colored lower bills. However, like the one that you pointed out, some birds get stained due to mucking around looking for food. This is why there's more brown on the head/bill on that bird.

Immature males have facial patterns like that of females, and I haven't yet noted when that plumage is changed out. That fact could account for the apparently skewed sex ratio of the birds in the pix.
