I didn't get to see them but apparently Cape May had a totally insane day today. First state record of Kirtland's Warbler was found & a couple hours later a second one was found a couple miles away!! Hopefully they'll stick around but I won't be able to get down there for a couple days.

First state record? May I ask where you are?

Just out of casual interest, how are we defining 'rare'?  Personal standards?

I would say if something is flagged as rare in eBird for the location. Also, if you find a more local rarity that’s no flagged. For example, Bewicks Wren is very unusual on the coast here in Orange County, and they’re common inland. But, they’re not flagged as rare on the coast, even though they should be.
