Tanager 101
https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/608894590 Lifer from my trip! It was pouring rain so I was more focused on trying to keep my camera gear dry, rather than the shutter speed. Hence the lack of sharpness...

dragon49
I'll certainly brag when I eventually get a "self found" rare bird, but for now, I'm just doing my diligence and following the gurus when they report one, such as this Neotropic Cormorant: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/608947016
dragon49
From yesterday. I forgot to add this Alder Flycatcher to my post. Marked rare for my county, but it's very territorial, so I'll be visiting it often while it's in town: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/608955917

dragon49
Alder Flycatcher again. This one was self-found, and most-likely not the same bird I've heard and seen before, as it was nearly a mile away from where the known individual can be found: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/609139308 Edited September 22 by dragon49

It took 2 hours to get there, but 3 hours back in part because of heavy rains in a hilly section of my route that prompted me to pull onto the shoulder for at least half an hour. I heard the bird that was attacked by the turtle passed away .

dragon49
Not sure how long this Alder Flycatcher (I don't think it was the same one I heard on Friday at a different location on the refuge) will stick around, but I'm 100% (5 for 5) in locating this individual when I look for it. Anyway, I like making the County Rare Bird Alert, so whenever I'm at the refuge, if I have the time, I'll by stopping by to look for it. The bird is moving, but on the same trail and frequently vocalizes, so this one was easy: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/609262129 Edited September 26 by dragon49

dragon49
I continue to be an Alder Flycatcher magnet. Regarding the "self found" status, the bird had been found by others at this exact location, but I wasn't looking for it. I just felt like throwing that out there. 🙂 https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/609369267
DLecy
Not the best picture, but this is the first chaseable Dickcissel in my county in a dozen years. Prior to this bird, there were exactly two photos of this species in the entire county. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/609408234
