Hi everyone, I saw a bird from a coach on St Lucia in the Caribbean and thought it would be easy to find it online but no luck. Perhaps someone here can help.

We were inland, near buildings, it was on grass. I’d put the bird at about 15-18 inches tall, upright and thin, with white feathers and (I think) yellow legs and bill. I saw several, it won’t be rare. I assumed it was an egret but it didn’t have -or I missed- the buff plumage patches of the cattle egret and it doesn’t look like the others on this site. Without the egret starting point I’m stuck. Thoughts welcome.

Welcome to Whatbird!

Did the bird have a completely white feathers? If so, Cattle Egrets in nonbreeding plumage do not have buffy patches. Similar birds include the Snowy Egret and juvenile Little Blue Heron.
