Ebony Jewelwing? Type of Hornets?

Recommended Posts

Location might be helpful, but I'm pretty sure the damsel is indeed an Ebony Jewelwing, a female because of the white dot on the wing.  A beautiful bug!  The upper wasp, at least, is highly reminiscent of the Prionyx wasps (family Sphecidae) that I see in my yard, but someone who actually knows something may be along soon.  (I only know Prionyx because I've gotten pictures identified at BugGuide.)
