Hi all,

This might be a bit of a longshot, but I thought I'd try anyway. Today near Boulder, CO, I saw a raven land in a prairie dog colony for several minutes. My initial impression was that it was noticeably smaller than what would be expected on a CORA. Also, the calls were higher-pitched than a CORA, almost like a more nasal, rougher-sounding crow. Unfortunately I didn't get a recording of this, and wasn't able to see the color of the neck feathers (white vs. gray). The nasal bristles appeared to extend more than half of the length of the bill (best seen in the last photo), but hard to tell. The bird appears smaller and more petite than I think a CORA would, which is somewhat evident in the photos. Thoughts? Thanks!

I’d say yes based on proportions and general shape. That’s only what I’m getting based on the photos. Wait for more replies, though.

Yeah, I meant to Common Raven, but I’m lacking in experience with Chihuahuan, so I really can’t say.
