Went to go see the first Michigan record of Roseate Spoonbill, so naturally a State Lifer.

Curious, has it been confirmed that this isn't a zoo escape?

According to a post on the Saline Police Department's Facebook page, DNR biologists believe the bird may have escaped from a zoo.

May need to make a little detour when I visit family in the state later this month.

No idea.  I'm not on any social media.  I'm not sure why they would think a zoo bird.  They have been pushed north this year into NY and PA.  I don't see any bands on its legs, and it can definitely fly.

Got 7 lifers on my Michigan trip last week -- Roseate Spoonbill, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Tufted Titmouse, Northern Cardinal, Common Grackle, Sandhill Crane, Northern Waterthrush, and Broad-winged Hawk.

Roseate Spoonbill, Sandhill Crane, and Northern Waterthrush sound impressive!

Thanks. Wish I got pics of the waterthrush but we were kayaking down a river and I was too cautious to bring my camera.
