My nemesis bird (most times put on a checklist without having a photo) is definitely the Virginia Rail (on 19 checklists). There are a few vocal residents at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, but they refuse to show themselves.

Went owling last night and heard a Saw-whet Owl! The crazy part though was that at our last stop we heard a weird noise, and it we didn't know what it was, but it made the noise 2 more times and we figured out it was a MOUNTAIN LION! It was pretty close, too.

Nice! And scary! Was it a screech or a song?

I went owling alone one time in a remote area and decided to call it quits when a pack of coyotes started howling REAL close. I made myself scarce quickly ?

Always wanted to hear a mountain lion!

That's pretty scary...Probably nobody will believe this, since I have no evidence, but I'm positive I had a mountain lion in my backyard one winter. Unfortunately, the snow was hard and it left no tracks when it ran through. Must've been one of those young mountain lions trying to make it out east.

Coyotes ain't a problem!  Now I'm not so sure about lions, bears, and crocodiles.
