Zoroark
My nemesis bird (most times put on a checklist without having a photo) is definitely the Virginia Rail (on 19 checklists). There are a few vocal residents at the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, but they refuse to show themselves.

BirdNrd
Went owling last night and heard a Saw-whet Owl! The crazy part though was that at our last stop we heard a weird noise, and it we didn't know what it was, but it made the noise 2 more times and we figured out it was a MOUNTAIN LION! It was pretty close, too.

I made myself scarce quickly 😅 Always wanted to hear a mountain lion!

Unfortunately, the snow was hard and it left no tracks when it ran through. Must've been one of those young mountain lions trying to make it out east.
