4 lifer lifers today—-White-faced ibis, Eared grebe, Black-crowned night-heron, and Wilson’s Phalarope

And then along with those I also added 10 Province/county lifers—- Marbled godwit, Western Meadowlark, Forster’s tern, Willet,  American avocet, Black-necked stilt, Spotted towhee, Bairds sandpiper, least sandpiper, and semipalmated sandpiper

And then my country total went up 8 species as well—the godwits, stilts, Forster’s tern and willet I’ve only seen outside of Canada. With the willet the only one I’ve seen in the last 7 years.

Also my year total went up 25 birds so today was quite the success!
Missed out on a Hudsonian godwit though.

They love oak trees. I had about 20 yesterday, in a total of five trees.

They're not nearly that common up here. Almost all the checklists I was seeing in my daily alerts had 1-3.

Cassin's Vireo - Was greeted to a nice mixed flock in the backyard when letting the dog out this morning. Netted me two other yardbirds as well (Warbling Vireo, Orange-crowned Warbler). Sadly most had moved on by the time I was able to run and get my camera.

Nice! I’ve only seen one CAVI. Quite an uncommon bird here.

Yeah. I live in an oak forest and they're one of the most common birds here at this time of year. I've had lists with over 60 BTYW on them before during big pushes.

Not many oaks down here, but where there are oaks, boy are they everywhere.

Had a Short-billed Dowitcher and  3 Long-billed Dowitchers yesterday. Both were lifers!

Isn’t it a great feeling when you finally get both on your list? It is for me, because then I don’t have to push myself to ID all of them in case one might be a lifer!

Redeemed myself and got my lifer Hudsonian godwit today! Was literally driving away when I noticed a large group of godwits and figured I should quickly check to make sure there were no hudsonians and found 3!

Also added 4 other new county/province birds, which has finally made my province species total at 200.
My Alberta list is now ‘beating’ my BC list by 12 species. Ever since I’ve had ebird, I’ve always had more species reported in BC by a fairly large margin, so we’ll see how long that lasts. Though, my county in BC is still 2 species ahead of my county here.

I've been holding back and birding around town the past few weeks, but yesterday I set off for my Big Day road trip. Had some VERY exciting weather as I came down I-29 which disrupted yesterday's plans, but today I got to see my first tufted titmice, Kentucky warblers and white-eyed vireos! Hoping to nag Carolina wren while I'm down here. ?
