3 Lifers in SE Arizona, 2 hummers and an Albert's Towhee???

1)Violet Crowned Hummer

Okay do you really need confirmation on the Violet-crowned Hummer lol? Amazing picture with the sun right on the crown, shining like an electrified amethyst in the sun, and distinctive clean white underparts.

Yes Broad-billed Hummer, the adult males are distinctive among hummingbirds in the US as being solid green with a blue throat and red bills. Females are a little more confusing and could be confused with the rarer White-eared Hummingbird.

Yes, Abert’s Towhee. Dark face separates from Canyon Towhee.

 

p.s. Back when I was a young ‘un I made that mistake too with the name of Abert’s Towhee... lol
