Terrible photo taken from my car yesterday in the Sax Zim Bog. Was hoping for some guidance, if it is even identifiable.

Three birders were arguing.

First birder - "Those are clearly game bird tracks, probably a grouse."

Second birder - "Obviously they were made by a waterfowl!"

Third birder - "You're both wrong; those are made by a raptor's claws."

And before they could say anything else, the train ran them all over.

Sorry.  It's a oldie usually told with animal prints, but how often will I get a photo like this one to set it up for me?

certainly a grouse; the seeming large area of pale plumage around vent suggests Sharp-tailed, but the seemingly dark belly contrasting with some pale on upper sides seems more like a feature of Spruce
