Help me identify this bird please!

Recommended Posts

This past Sunday morning I was in Mt Pleasant, SC, when a bird flew into the window. He sat on the patio stunned, so I got a good look at him. He was a slim, smooth medium gray-colored bird, with a yellow tipped tail, and perhaps a white chest. He was only about 4-1/2 inches long overall. He recovered and flew up to his friend. There were three or four pairs of them. I didn’t get a photo. Thank you!

Made it more succinct hopefully.

Welcome to Whatbird!  Sounds like you have a Cedar Waxwing.  We're saying that because of your description - yellow-tipped tail and travelling in a flock.  They're migrating through SC right now.  (Incidentally, we have a lot of SC participants here!)

See if this matches:

EDIT: sniped by Melierax again!  :classic_tongue:

Glad the bird lived.  I wouldn't want you to be feeling like
