What type of dark finch? - Akron, OH, minutes ago

Perhaps a juvenile male cowbird?

No. First, there are no juvenile cowbirds in the ABA Area in February. Second, first-winter male Brown-headeds (and all other blackbirds with no significant colorful patches) look like adult male Brown-headeds, except for a single row of lesser greater coverts on the underside of the wings. These all-dark blackbirds are NOT ageable in the field after the post-juvenile molt in late summer/fall.
