A moderator has asked me to explain why ruby vs black chinned. can I get help with answering this question? will probably need help with 3/1 bird as I have not yet posted on ebird but plan to post it. Jefferson Shank 1,232
Both Ruby-throated for me. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds have a longer tail that extends beyond the wingtips, whereas Black-chinned Hummingbirds have longer wings that reach the tip of the tail or go only slightly beyond it.
