Why is almost any other migratory species "allowed" to show up out of range during migration, but Bicknell's isn't? And Alabama would be only barely out of normal migration range of Bicknell's, at least as well as our very incomplete data set will permit. AlexHenry Posted March 5, 2020 Share Posted March 5, 2020 I think this bird is safe to say Gray-cheeked Thrush. Some, but not all Gray-cheeked can be safely IDed in the field. Bicknell's can't really be safely IDed by sight alone because there is overlap in pretty much all features with the Newfoundland subspecies of Gray-cheeked (C m minimus). However the Northern subspecies (C m alicia) can be safely IDed from Bicknell's by sight as they are more distinct Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
