Charlie Spencer
Okay, maybe I've just had a long day at work but if that blob in the upper right of the second photo is a bird, I'm John James Audubon. And what's that white sail-looking thing in the first photo?

Those 'wings' aren't even the same shape. The one on our left is lumpy on the bottom third, almost club-like. The right one is chopped off bluntly and is maybe two thirds the size of the left. Is that a bill sticking out from the upper left of it? What crow-sized bird has a fencing epee like that? I don't want to come across as unwelcoming to our new member but this smells like that 'Tuna Surprise' Aunt Ethel brought to the reunion but left in the car. Habitat is a bit off but everything else fits. 3

It might not be. I was just guessing! I'm not sure if we can be sure on the ID of this bird. Edited March 6, 2020 by Jefferson Shank
Charlie Spencer
Look at the apparently sparrow-sized bird on the ground in both photos. Something massive is 2 minutes ago, HamRHead said: I'm pretty sure that blob in the upper right of the second photo is a narwhal. Of course we can't, because it's NOT a bird.
Jefferson Shank
The blob in the top right corner of the 2nd picture looks like a bird with something in its beak, flying toward the camera? The bird on the first picture is flying away from camera?

This massive psuedo-raptor is barely feet away and the sparrow is just sitting there? It's upright, not even trying to press down to hide. And it remained after the object moved away? Jefferson Shank
I think the "raptor" is actually a smaller bird which looks big because it is so close to the camera. The tail is NOT a raptor tail... more like an robin tail.

The bird in question is probably not very big and didn't get a 'raptor' impression to the HOSP. Given the posture of the nearly-folded wings, JS's guess of American Robin seems reasonable. Charlie Spencer
I'm still waiting for any explanation of what that white thing is in the first photo. There's a UFO in the shot and the poster wants to ask about birds?

HamRHead
I think red is the eye and purple is the left wing.
Jefferson Shank
I think red is the eye and purple is the left wing. If that is the eye... where is the beak?
