Kevin
I am not sure if it is a Common or Barrow's Goldeneye. Do you have any more photos?
Phalarope713
Common Goldeneye.

akandula
It’s an immature male Common Goldeneye. The incoming white circle (not crescent), head and bill shape, and large amount of white on the wing all rule out Barrow’s. Nice photo.

RobinHood
20 minutes ago, Charlie Spencer said: I'm sorry, what does 'incoming' mean in this context? Transitioning to adult plumage I think. A wildlife photographer friend got all excited a few days ago as he thought he had found a Barrow's (pretty rare here) but it was the white of a partially formed circle in the shape of a crescent. I've noticed a lot of immature Goldeneyes at the moment have a faint white cheek circle.

Kevin
I was thinking common, I just was not 100 percent sure.

Tony Leukering
Incoming = new feathers (possibly new pattern) growing, replacing -- in this case -- juvenile/formative plumage in this immature male Common Goldeneye.
