tclarkwood
The migration started at the beginning of March but the weather has contributed to a slower pace and scattered migration. We may see this continue because there is a lot of rain forecasted in the Southeast for March. Put out your feeders because they are here! Woo-hoo! ? MeInDallas
Wow! Sitting looking out the back window at the peanut feeder, and to my surprise a hummingbird starts making circles around and around looking for a feeder, so I ran and got one ready to hang up. It was going so fast I couldnt make out what kind it was unfortunately.

I guess you get both ruby-throats and black-chinned since you are right on the boundary for both?

tclarkwood
Looks like the ruby-throat migrations has really taken off and these next three days of 80 degree weather here in the deep south is going to really make them surge North! Be ready to see one by the end of the weekend if you live on a latitude line from Eastern Texas to South Carolina! Woo Hoo!
Leandz
I have the Ruby throated hummingbirds each yr that normally don’t show up until middle of April. But do you think they will be coming earlier this yr ? from West Virginia .

MeInDallas
I've noticed the past couple of days I'm getting a lot of hummingbirds all of a sudden, so I put my 2nd feeder out in the front yard yesterday. It seems like they all show up at once. I've seen a female ruby throat and several others. Always so startling at first to see them humming around because they arent here all year long, and then they come right up to the window.
Kevin
Black-chinned Hummingbirds have been here abut a week, I saw my first Ruby-throated of the year yesterday!
MeInDallas
I've been sitting all morning (and yesterday evening too) just looking at one after the other coming to the feeders. The numbers already seem high this year for me. Do you usually have big numbers there in your part of Texas?
lonestranger
We had our first Ruby-throated hummingbird of the season show up this weekend in rural Erin township, Ontario. I was sitting out in the porch with the door open while drinking my coffee on Saturday morning when I heard the distinctive sound of a hummer buzzing by. Sure enough he was looking for the feeders and flowers we had hanging last year. I grabbed the camera and took a quick picture before going out and removing the snow and mixing up some fresh nectar(sugar water). I was looking out the kitchen window this morning and saw him defending his territory and chasing away all the goldfinches and chickadees that got anywhere near him. Always entertaining when watching these little guys, even if you're not quick enough to photograph all of it.
