I didn't really have a chance with that last one either. They're quite uncommon here. I get very excited when I see a mockingbird anywhere! I've lived in Ala, Fla, Ga, Wyoming, and Calif, and I've been in all but 7 of the 50 States. Thought I had seen them everywhere!!

Spyonabird
We have a crow family in our yard. Every time I try to take their pic, they scatter. They are very skittish. I will keep stalking them...
Jodi Nielson
Apparently Crows are having an aversion to perching on rooftops lately....lol

A Crow lit on the roof across the street, but flew just as I got outside with my camera! The word must be out among them not to get caught on a roof!!
Spyonabird
Our crows keep being chased off by the colony of Common Grackles that are nesting in our yard.
Chris Clem
Why not do more then one challenge at a time. Maybe it wouldn't drag on so much for those who have no chance of seeing that bird in there area.

It would be difficult to tell which challenges are still going and which ones are not. Like I said, we can end the current challenge if a lot of us are for it. I'm okay with ending this one.

Kerri
How about a Hawk on the ground? That should be doable for most ranges correct?

Do you recall how far you were from this bird? I was quite a distance - maybe a hundred and fifty feet? He was on the ground when I first saw him eating something and as luck would have it as I watched he flew up to the nearby roof top. I zoom in on my phone as much as possible and take the photo. Then when you open the photo up on your phone you can zoom in again and I take a screen shot of the extra zoomed in photo. Does that make sense. I will post the original photo in a second and then you can see how much it can zoom in from your phone gallery.

Kerri
Just a reminder we are still looking for a winning photo of a hawk on the ground taken on 4/16 or later. I'll give it a another day or so and if we still have no winner we can choose another challenge. Thanks. Happy Hunting!
