floraphile
It was tiny. Not hanging out with the Mourning Doves.
floraphile
Also the tail was neither as long nor as pointed as a Mourning Dove. Underparts appeared white, though, and I just read that CGD underparts should be pinkish. ? Edited April 1, 2020 by floraphile add info
Charlie Spencer
I'm in the MODO camp. Here's a young MODO from my deck last year. Notice the similarity in spot patterns to your bird. Compare the more vertical markings on your bird with the spots on the Common Ground Dove on AAB. https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Common_Ground_Dove/species-compare/60386921 Edited April 1, 2020 by Charlie Spencer

HamRHead
I agree with Mourning Dove. Young Mourning Doves have a scaly look. When I saw this one my first thought was Common Ground Dove. It looked tiny to me as well. The second bird is a Common Ground Dove.
