Colorado Birder
Hi all Here in Colorado (today) we have both species present right now, one leaving winter and one arriving summer grounds. Which one is this below and why? I have my choice, I'd like to confirm it. Thanks Gary, Nunn, CO
akandula
Northern. The thin mask and brown barring on the breast rule out Loggerhead. It's going to leave to Canada soon...
Nivalis
looks like a Northern Shrike (Lanius borealis) notice the thiner eye-band and brown barring on breast witch distinguishes it from a Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus.
