Katelyn Davis
So the first recording is pretty bad you'll have to listen really closely but I had thought it was an Eastern Wood-Pewee. However, those wouldn't be in my area right now (I'm in Western NY). Today, my boyfriend sent me the second recording which he told me came from a European Starling. It sounds almost the same as my first recording. I swear it sounds just like an Eastern Wood-Pewee! Can somebody please confirm the bird either way and if it is indeed a European Starling can you maybe give me some tips to distinguish this call from an Eastern Wood-Pewee? The Bird Nuts
Both sure do sound like an Eastern Wood-Pewee, but I can't rule out a mimic with these recordings. When a starling mimics another bird's call it usually adds on other birds' and/or its own calls.
